Hi
My problem is my little girl's 11.1hh section a, she rides
in an eggbutt snaffle, when being ridden in a large open space
she has trouble turning and stopping him, he is otherwise
quite safe, but this does tend to frighten her. I wondered
if there was another bit I could try, He only has a small
face and I wondered if a fulmer would make his face look over
crowded
Thank you,
Maureen

from The Bitbank replies.
Specialist pony bits are available where everything is scaled
down accordingly, however, a fulmer is simply a loose ring
with full cheeks and the mouthpiece is not going to give
any help with brakes than the mouthpiece of the existing
eggbutt. The full cheek is normally used to help with steering
and we need to address the issue of brakes. It would be
useful to know the exact size as when we get into the smaller
sizes our options on the cheaper stock line bits are more
limited but to keep things simple and relatively inexpensive
i would suggest along the lines of a Dr Bristol eggbutt
or a kimblewick.
I hope that this is useful
Kind regards
Heather
