What
Happens If I Want My Horse Cremated?
A
Stabletalk reader wrote to us with the following query
Hi I
have a pony that may have to be put down do to ill health.
This is breaking my heart as she is such a special lovely
lady and has served people all her life without complaint.
All I can do for her now is make everything as peaceful
and quite as I can. The vet will come here at home and put
her to sleep by injection. I then want her taken to be cremated.
My question is what happens after the vet has been and how
much roughly will this cost. I live in the Grimsby area.
Thankyou
Stabletalk,
with information from the Leyland Pet Cemetery reply.
The
Leyland Pet Cemetery and Crematorium in Lancashire are one
of only a few places that can provide a cremation service
for horses.. They also have a pet crematorium in Cheshire
and here is a link to their website. http://www.petcrematorium.co.uk
(Wigan Road, Leyland, Preston 01772 622466)
I know
that they provide a good and dignified service including
collection and individual cremation. You can have ashes
returned to you in a casket or disposable container. Arrangements
are usually made for the Pet Cemetery staff to be there
at the same time as the vet.
As you
live quite a way from the Pet Cemetery I was advised that
if you wanted their service that it would be preferable
to have your vet call in the afternoon if possible.
If you
have thought about a permanent keepsake of your beloved
pony, The Foxford Shoe Company specialise in Chrome or Gold
plated horshoes which can be wall or desk mounted. You can
see more information at www.foxford-shoe.co.uk
Our
hearts go out to you at this distressing time but your care
and love for your dear pony will help you through and you
will always remember the good times and I am sure that if
she could tell you she would thank you for all that love
and affection you have shown and for giving her such a very
good and enjoyable life.
Kindest
regards
