THE SHOW

Once more the season's upon us, let's dust off all our gear
As nerves and trepidation, turn into abject fear.

The toilets come familiar, the nearer it becomes,
And constant diarrhea plays havoc with our bums.

And queuing up for your turn, you fidget and you stamp,
But by the time it's your turn you've already wet your pants.

And what about the horses? they think we've all gone mad,
As we become neurotic they think it's some new fad,

To prance around with silly plaits and coats bereft of mud,
And ask them to play statues, pretend they're made of wood.

And when we get in the ring and start to do our show,
Horrified, we realise, we've forgotten all we know.

On top of that the "experts" are standing at ringside,
Bursting with their comments, both negative and snide,

"You're on the wrong diagonal, you're horse is much too fat,
Can't you change position? it's wrong the way you're sat.

The plaits are coming loose you know, the tails an inch too long, And when you did you're canter dear' I'm afraid the leg was wrong."

Purgatory it is for us, we don' t expect to win,
Just to take some pleasure from bravely joining in.

And when at last it's over, the pleasure and the pain, we just can't wait for next month to do it all again!
